At least I'm not watching tennis! |
Then there's the "every day" bloggers. Those guys who just tell you about their day, or something fun that's happened, or something that's important to them. Most often than not these blogs aren't that well written. They got some bad punctuation and their train of thought can be hard to follow sometimes. But I still enjoy reading them. It gives you a glimpse of another person’s life and how they feel about it.
And finally there are the spammers. Those guys who don't even make an effort in producing any content. They just load up their "blogs" with YouTube clips or images without even commenting on them. And don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who want to share a clip. I've even done this myself, when I was too exhausted and hung over to actually write something, and the title was quite self-explanatory. But I usually try to leave some comment about what I share and why I'm sharing it. But these guys includes about 10-50 pictures, without any text at all, and calls it a day. That's like taking a creative writing class and copy-paste a link to Wikipedia about books. No-one wins. I'd actually be quite mad that they wasted my bandwidth if I had some kind of bandwidth cap or something.
On a related note: Does anyone know how to remove "follow" on deleted blogs? It's been bugging me for a while now. *Resolved*
i generally agree with you and am always trying to blog about stuff that interests me without just copy/paste and promote a discussion in the comments. Though if you keep trying, you will find those hidden gem blogs that you will keep you interested in reading them daily :)
ReplyDeleteI usually try to avoid bloggers like that, with the pics and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have been getting pretty pissed off having a ton of deleted blogs in my lineup as well. I think on your main controls page if you go to the Reading List and click manage you can add/remove blogs.
ReplyDeleteif you click on the B on the left side, then you have to option to manage the blogs. there you can delete it :)
ReplyDeleteYou make a wonderful point sir, one that I think to myself all to often.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I slack a little on posting, I've been really busy recently, trying to catch up now =D
Great post, I agree with you 100%, I used to check every blog I followed, but people never update! A great way is to only check back those who comment you back and support their blogs, that way you know who is reliable!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind some of the mass-picture/video bloggers because some of the stuff they drag up is pretty funny, but I guess there are already sites like memebase that fulfill those needs without someone having to make a blog about it!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, the ease of creating a blog really does give you witness to a wide range of skill and passion levels. Usually blogs that incorporate humor and illustrations to their text do really well, i mean just look at Hyperbole and a Half.
ReplyDeleteIf a blog is spammy, I don't bother following, but there are some blogs that are just pictures that I really like, because the pictures are usually funny and there are enough there to show that they actually put effort into picking and uploading them.
When you are on their page, click "Follow" at the top, and then click "Stop Following". Thats it!
ReplyDelete@Cornbread: Haha, the problem was that their blogs were removed. Probably because they stole all their content and such. Did manage to find where to unfollow in the control bar tho. It's all good.
ReplyDeleteI love the "every day" bloggers. :)
ReplyDeleteThe news I can see for myself on various sites; I don't need a fellow blogger to point them out to me. Also, I'm starting to get fed up with review blogs. Everybody's doing it, nowadays.
And, your little problem.
Design> Dashboard> Manage (under Reading list, Blogs I'm following)> Settings
That should help you. ;)
there really is nothing better than a well written piece of text.
ReplyDeletePeoples blogs are so different. It is truly a testament to the uniqueness of every individual.
ReplyDeleteTennis is a TERRIBLE spectator sport.
ReplyDeleteNice post, I agree completely.
ReplyDeleteSorry don't know how to remove "follow" on deleted blogs. ):
I am a blog addict.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those daily bloggers, but I try to keep it somewhat interesting and well written haha
ReplyDeletei wanna know too, how can i remove those "follows" at deleted blogs, i'd be glad if you tell me how. +followed
ReplyDeleteits all about the grammar and mine is... well, lets change the theme ^^
ReplyDeleteI am just getting started with blogging and like it.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean I have a lot of different blogs that I read
ReplyDeleteHey tennis is fun >:)
ReplyDeleteBasically, if a blog is just a picture, video, or link dump... I stop following. I can deal with spelling, punctuation and general congruent thought issues. It's fun to see what other people think. And not just the paid one's in the papers or on tv. But regular, everyday people.
ReplyDeleteI've gone from well thought out, multi part posts to throwing poo into the fan, and seeing what comes out. Like the latter technique.
ReplyDeleteWow! I just noticed too, most of the blogs I'm following are completely different from eachother!
ReplyDeleteI try to make it less of a boring post so I put pictures, then some comments on my topic. can you tell me if I'm doing a lazy job on it? I need an input and what I need to improve my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said here lol. you read my mind!
ReplyDeleteYes. Some people do write terribly, and just spam stuff. But there is also some quality stuff on blogspot.
ReplyDeleteStone Computer Services is spot on.
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of different blogs, but I haven't exactly followed many... because not many of them seem to 'click' with me, y'know?
I think we read the same tennis blog :)
ReplyDeleteI follow blogs I find entertaining, but few of them really went bad, like "Omg sweet kittens pt. 32455". And that's really annoying. I've got some errors when I try to cancel following.
ReplyDeletenice post, i upload videos but i also do a fair amount of writing
ReplyDeletei totally agree, people who make no effort on their blogs shouldnt be surprised when no-one reads them. . .
ReplyDeleteYou make some great points, but sometimes people find that writing doesn't come naturally to them, and it takes a while to find your voice and individual style, I hope to get better at it for sure!
