The thing I've never understood about terrorism is... Well, it's why. The people carrying out the attacks are often intelligent. Just look at this attack on Norway. It took extensive planning and bomb manufacturing. Most people can't even set the clock on their DVD. And since the terrorist have the ability of logical thinking they should know that nothing good never comes out of blowing people up. Terrorists actions does the exact opposite of what they want it to do. People have no sympathy for the terrorists, they don't go thinking "Hey, they blew up a lot of people, maybe they're right." No, people get mad.
Lets just look at america and 9/11. A huge blow against america. But those 3000 tragic deaths lead to a war. A war were around a hundred thousand civilians have been killed on Iraqi soil. So who's the real looser here?
The Norwegians obviously can't go to war against their own country. But the attack will still strengthen the things he was trying to fight. What ever party he voted for will loose members. The party he was fighting will get more votes and more active members.
Yeah... I don't know what more to say. It's just sad.
tl:dr; Terrorism is stupid and never gets them what they want.
Well said mate, its a stupid act and its not going to change the world or solve anything! Wish people would realise that! Another great post
ReplyDeleteWondered what the world would be like if everyone could just get along?
ReplyDeleteI hear ya man, terrorism is a freaking brutal thing for everyone. Feel for you guys over in Europe. +Supported
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible sad, I know some people who had family down at Utøy where the shooting happened. I've got a post about this up on my blog as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post. I'll follow you and look forward to your future posts.
Nice Post man. I completely agree with what you are saying. Looking forward to future posts.
ReplyDeleteNorway seems such a strange attack to me, I feel like it will be forgotten about by the worlds news all to soon
ReplyDeleteIt takes a certain combination of smart and crazy to make a terrorist. Glad it wasn't any closer to you.
ReplyDeleteVery tragic, that what happened.. Shooting other people, with no reason :(
ReplyDeleteFor once Cray i really agree with you. Well said, and i'm sorry it hit so close to home.
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard to understand when someone is killing innocent people to prove his right.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting, so I will follow. Terrible how this happens how, and especially to the extent of it.
ReplyDeleteFreddie said it best: is this the world we created? :(
ReplyDeleteYeah it's too damn brutal and come to think that the guy is only (rumored) to be getting 21 years in prison.
ReplyDeleteits very true, i can't even think of a way to answer that as it literally makes not a shred of sense why they do it.
ReplyDeleteTo answer that first question. Sometimes something happens to people that they just don't like. In some people that causes hatred. Some insane people are just that, insane. And to quote The Dark Knight, "Some men just want to watch the world burn."
ReplyDeleteInteresting. You are right that most terrorists are quite intelligent and that's why I think they choose to act on something they feel strong about. Don't get me wrong I don't support mass murder of 90 people but I think there are lots of people that just stopped and thought that the guy is right that Europe is being flooded with Muslims, well that's at least the case in UK where I live, and something must be done with this. I think this issue should be taken up with the European Union or at least individual governments.
ReplyDeleteLook at Switzerland from my personal experience and some people I know that lived there I know that they're quite racist to non-Swiss people and that you can't even get a job if you don't have a Swiss Citizenship. And look at them they don't have any problems with Islam or any other religious ethnicity.
I think it's time Europe stop being so liberal and try to protect it's heritage and knowledge from the non-Europeans.
You could argue I am racist and that everyone deserves to live in Europe no matter where they come from but look at what's happening all over the world because of immigration to First World Countries.
@Miki: The nice thing about democracy is that everyone is allowed their own opinion. I have nothing against anyone voicing their opinions even I don't share them myself.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is that violence is never the answer. Killing a bunch of people in the name of a cause will only alienate the public from that cause. Be it political extremists, right or left, or religious fanatics, it's always the same in the end. The public feels stronger for the ones who got killed and hatred for those who executed the deed. This makes it harder for legitimate, less extreme, persons with similar agendas because they get dismissed as fanatics.
We have a right extremist party in our government right now. It's nothing i'm proud over, but they got to were they are using words, debates and other non-violent acts. So the people chose them, and i accept that.
i hope norway have the strength to sort themselves out. :/
